Abstract | The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the magnetocaloric effect of gadolinium(Gd), a ferromagnetic material and use this information to design/build a magnetocaloric fridge that will be able to store/transport vaccines to people in developing countries. This was achieved through three different experiments. I measured the effects in temperature/entropy of Gd in a magnetic field with changes in: masses of Gd; room temperature; and magnetic fields. |
