Abstract Current wireless charging solutions are efficient at their peak but due to incorrect placement of the receiver coil relative to the transmitter coil, that high efficiency is rarely reached. Incorrect placement leads to charging inefficiencies as the Rx(Receiver) coil is not in the “sweet spot” of the radiation pattern. As a result, the waves are not directly emitting to the receiver coil, rather, they are creating eddy currents in ferous parts of the phone which creates heat and leads to even greater inefficiencies. Due to the heat generated by the eddy currents, the power output will also be limited to compensate for the hot internal components of the phone. The purpose of this project is to create an app to determine the correct alignment of the receiver coil relative to the transmitter coil using only the hardware provided in the phone. This would enable users to charge their devices at the rated maximum efficiency without needing to buy any extra equipment as the solution is software based and will work with any device.
