Abstract In this experiment, 2 substances combined as a solution, baking soda and vinegar will be tested to make sodium acetate. The solution will be cooled, as a “supercooled” solution. When mixed together and brought to point of heat, then a point of cooleness, the solution reacts and solidifies. When the solution is solidifying, it exerts heat from within it, this process is called “exothermic”. This experiment is done to understand how substances react to one another, and to see how they perform the “exothermic” process. Also, to understand, how supercooling a solution, affects the results of the “exothermic” process. Lastly, to understand why some substances are “exothermic” and “endothermic”.
