| Abstract | This project will examine the use of waste shells – an abundant renewable resource – to remediate the emerging problem of lake calcium decline occurring in softwater shield lakes in Eastern North America and Northern Europe. Its effect on lake calcium levels and on survivorship and reproduction (generation time, brood numbers, brood size) of Daphnia Pulex - a vital zooplankton for lake biodiversity - will be examined. |
