Abstract |
The purpose of this experiment is to find a catalyst that will improve the efficiency of a hydrogen fuel cell. Hydrogen is a clean fuel but the process to obtain hydrogen currently uses to much energy. In order to make the fuel cell more efficient, the energy imputed into the cell must be less 1.23 volts and that is one of the main goals of this experiment. The prediction of the outcome of the experiment is that the cobalt nitrate will perform the best because cobalt catalyzes the hydrogen formation and the nitrate helps catalyze the oxygen formation. The combining of both of these compounds will catalyze the overall reaction and generate hydrogen faster and using less energy input. |
