Here is a short purpose of my project: I jump into details about my inspiration for this project more in my background information section (: !
The purpose of this experiment is to investigate how different brands of water filters (ZeroWater, Aquaphor, and Kirkland Signature) affect the pH, turbidity, and total dissolved solids (TDS) of pond water.
By analyzing these key water quality indicators, the experiment aims to determine the effectiveness of each filter in maintaining pH balance, reducing contaminants, and improving water clarity. This research was inspired by the mercury contamination crisis faced by the Grassy Narrows First Nation, as highlighted in CBC’s “Children of the Poisoned River” report, which exposed the long-term environmental and health impacts of polluted water on Indigenous communities. The experiment underscores the importance of accessible and effective water filtration solutions in ensuring safe drinking water, particularly for communities affected by water contamination. |
