Abstract Plastic bottle tops rank among the top five ocean pollutants that kill the most wildlife. With 500 billion plastic bottles used yearly and only 12% recycled, caps severely harm animals and ecosystems. Marine creatures mistake them for food, leading to fatal consequences. To help reduce waste, I invented biodegradable plastic as a substitute for traditional plastics, offering an alternative to pollution and a path to a cleaner future.
