Abstract | Positive self-esteem has improved mental well-being. Negative self-esteem is an important factor in negative outcomes. While many believe that only the individual can improve their own self-esteem, this experiment tested whether another individual can positively impact someone else’s self-esteem by making positive statements to them; and whether positive statements from an authority figure would generate a greater impact than positive statements from a peer. |
