Call for BASEF Student Advisors

1 Oct. 2017 News
Printer-friendly version

The BASEF Organizing Committee created Student Advisor positions to allow students to contribute to the planning and organization of the annual regional science fair, and to be able to share the perspectives of student participants.  We encourage students to apply by the end of August for one of these positions.  This is an excellent learning opportunity to take part in collaborative committee decision making.

This opportunity is available to any student from a BASEF region school board or home school.  Applicants must have participated in at least one BASEF event in the past.  Applicants must be attending school in Grade 8 to 12 starting in September; they are encouraged to consider competing in BASEF 2018 although this is not required.

Details of the Student Advisor position:

  • Student Advisors are appointed for a one-year term (and can reapply for additional terms).
  • Are expected to attend the monthly BASEF Organizing Committee meetings, usually one per month from September to March on a weekday evening.
  • Will be credited with volunteer hours.
  • Must be able to arrange transportation to and from meetings (usually held at the ArcelorMittal Dofasco main office on Burlington Street).

Include your name, school, grade, past BASEF experience, and also include a short description of why you feel you would make a good Student Advisor for BASEF.
