Big New Awards for Students at the 2017 Science & Engineering Fair

For over 50 years, the Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair (BASEF) has provided a forum for students in the Hamilton, Halton and surrounding areas  to develop their scientific skills and prepare for national and international competition. BASEF is excited to announce several new awards for 2017.

  • ArcelorMittal  Dofasco will provide a new single prize of $1,000 for the best project on any aspect of steelmaking or steel products.
  • Nicola  Tesla Educational Corporation will recognize up to 42 projects where electricity is integral to the project, up to a total of $4,000.
  • High  school students competing at BASEF have the opportunity to win one of five all-expenses paid prizes to the prestigious 2017 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Los Angeles, California May 14-17, 2017.

BASEF 2017 sponsored by ArcelorMittal Dofasco will run from March 30-April 1, 2017 at Mohawk College and is open to students registered in grades 7-12  from Hamilton, Halton, Brant, Haldimand, Norfolk and Six Nations.

BASEF expects that at the 2017 fair, there will be in excess of $200,000 worth of prizes, awards and scholarships to be won, including trips to the national  and international fairs!

Students are encouraged to choose their topics soon and develop their projects early, so they will be ready for BASEF registration beginning February  1, 2017.

BASEF looks forward to seeing all future scientists, innovators and engineers at the Fair.
