Alumni Gallery

BASEF has served as a launch pad for many careers in science and engineering. For some students, a science-fair project led them to discover an unknown aptitude or interest. For others, the science fair provided a stage to encourage ever greater accomplishments or funding for further work. And for many students, BASEF-funded trips to the national and international science fairs led to scholarships or summer-job offers which kick-started their academic or professional careers.

We've just begun to build this gallery featuring former BASEF winners. Please contact us if you or someone you know should be added.

Ben Gulak - BASEF 2004, 2005, 2006

Ben's early engineering work with magnetic levitation won him a bronze medal at BASEF in 2004. By 2008, he had developed a revolutionary new motorcycle, the Uno, for which he won top awards at the national and international fairs, been featured on The Dragon's Den and the Tonight Show, and had seen his invention on the cover of Popular Science. Ben is currently studying engineering at MIT and has started BPG Technologies to develop the Uno commercially.
Here is a slideshow (pdf) showing both Ben's early work and his successes at CWSF, IISEF and beyond.
